An Academic Pilgrimage to KAUST
After my explorations around Saudi Arabia, I embarked on a different kind of journey – one that led me to King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), located near Jeddah. This part of my trip was dedicated to academic exchange and collaboration.
At KAUST, I was impressed by the state-of-the-art facilities and the vibrant academic community of a true global academic hub. The discussions I had with faculty and students were enlightening, offering me a glimpse into the innovative spirit that drives this institution.
One of the highlights of my visit was serving as a judge at the World AI Competition for Youth (WAICY) 2023. This role gave me a unique opportunity to engage with and evaluate the projects of talented young students from various elementary, middle, and high schools in the region. Their creativity and proficiency in AI were not only impressive but also a sign of the promising future that lies ahead in technology and education.
Being part of WAICY 2023 was an eye-opening experience. It showcased the potential of youth in shaping the future of AI and technology. The event was a testament to the power of education in nurturing young minds and preparing them for the challenges of tomorrow.
As my time at KAUST and WAICY concluded, I prepared to return to Brazil, carrying with me not just memories but also valuable insights and experiences. This experience, especially my role at WAICY, has reinforced my belief in the power of education and cultural exchange in bridging divides and nurturing future generations of innovators and thinkers.
